Purpose

Any changes to applicable laws, regulations, or Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ policies will take effect on their stated effective date and apply to all current and prospective employees.
Annual Notice to Employees
In accordance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ provides this annual notice to all employees regarding its commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace and campus environment.
The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession, sale, purchase, storage, or use of illegal drugs or controlled substances is prohibited while on College property, while conducting College business, while operating College-owned or leased vehicles, or while otherwise acting within the scope of employment.
The misuse of alcohol and the use of illegal drugs are inconsistent with Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ’s mission and values. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ is committed to fostering a safe, healthy, and productive learning and working environment for all members of the campus community.
Prohibited Conduct
The following conduct is prohibited:
- The unauthorized use, possession, distribution, manufacture, sale, purchase, or storage of illegal drugs or controlled substances on College property or while conducting College business.
- The unauthorized use or possession of alcohol while performing job duties or operating vehicles on behalf of the College.
- Reporting to work or engaging in College-related activities while impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs, or the misuse of prescription medications.
- Off-duty alcohol or drug use that adversely affects job performance, workplace safety, or the well-being of students, employees, visitors, or members of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ community.
- The use of alcohol at College-sponsored events in a manner that results in impaired judgment, unsafe behavior, or disruption of College operations.
Employee Responsibilities
Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ expects all employees to perform their duties in a safe, professional, and unimpaired manner. Employees share a responsibility to help maintain a workplace and campus environment free from the harmful effects of substance misuse.
Employees who observe behavior that may present a safety concern or who are struggling with substance use are encouraged to seek assistance and support as early as possible.
Available Support and Resources
Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ recognizes that substance use disorders and mental health concerns are health conditions that can affect individuals and their families. Employees are encouraged to seek help before workplace performance or safety is impacted.
Resources available to employees may include:
- The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Medical and behavioral health services available through employee health insurance plans
- Counseling and mental health resources
- Human Resources consultation and support
- Sun Life for leave and accommodations
- Community treatment and recovery resources
