Want to take a class or two at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ without committing to a full degree? Non-degree seeking status lets you do exactly that—for personal enrichment, professional development, or to knock out a prerequisite. You can enroll for credit or audit a course, space permitting. Just know that degree-seeking students register first, so we can’t guarantee you a seat. If you’re hoping to eventually earn a Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ degree, check out our first-year, transfer, or returning student options instead.

How to Apply as a Non-Degree Seeking Student

This option works if you want to take up to two courses per semester without pursuing a degree. If you’re hoping to earn a second bachelor’s degree, apply as a full-time transfer student instead. And if you’re eventually aiming to become a full-time degree-seeking student, we’d rather you apply that way from the start. Note that if you already have a bachelor’s degree, you won’t be eligible for financial aid from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.

Complete the and submit your most recent academic transcript (college or high school). Application materials should be received at least two weeks before the Block in which you hope to enroll.

Review the to identify courses of interest. Final course availability will be determined in consultation with the Registrar’s Office after admission. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ reserves class space primarily for full-time degree-seeking students. Non-degree seeking applicants are considered only after available seats have been identified. Admission decisions are based in part on course availability and enrollment demand.

If admitted, you will work with the Registrar's Office to determine course availability and register for classes on a block-by-block basis. Admission does not guarantee enrollment in any specific course.

Students enrolling in one or two blocks per semester pay the published per-block tuition rate. Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for need-based financial aid from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ. Employees using tuition remission benefits should contact Human Resources to confirm eligibility before applying.

Once you have received your admission decision, accept your offer through the Admit Reply Form on the applicant portal.

Some courses, particularly high-demand science and pre-medical courses, may have limited or no availability for non-degree seeking students. Degree-seeking students receive priority registration for all courses. Admission as a non-degree seeking student does not guarantee future admission to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ as a degree-seeking student.
